Julie Brennan is a solicitor who trained in McCann FitzGerald and then worked in their commercial litigation department for 6 years, specialising in dispute resolution and litigation. Julie holds a degree in law, a masters in commercial law and a diploma in employment law. She began working in the area of risk and quality management in 2010, as head of risk management in Outsource and then head auditor with the Institute of Legal Research and Standards from August 2012. Julie has extensive experience in auditing firms of all sizes throughout the country. She has given presentations to Bar Associations around the country on the subject of risk and quality management and has lectured on the subject in the Law Society.
Rose has worked as a Legal Risk and Quality Management Consultant since June 2011; prior to that she worked as a solicitor for over a decade. During that time Rose gained broad experience in a number of areas of law including commercial property and litigation. Rose has obtained diplomas from the Law Society in Commercial Conveyancing, Trust and Estate Planning and E-Commerce. She has worked as a mediator with the Family Mediation Services and has practiced as a Notary Public since 2008. Rose visits legal firms in the Munster area on behalf of the Institute of Legal Research and Standards.
Cathy Haines was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 2007 and worked as a general practice solicitor with Rory P. Benville & Co. Solicitors in Bray. She started working with Outsource in 2011 as an Auditor and Risk Management Consultant and joined the Institute of Legal Research and Standards when it was created in 2012. She has audited a large number of small to medium sized firms mainly on the East coast of Ireland over the past five years and has also assisted and supported firms who were looking to implement a full risk management strategy. In addition Cathy has been involved in carrying out a full review of undertakings and files for a number of firms through her continued work with Outsource.
Mary Daly graduated from UCG (now NUIG) with B.A. and LL.B. degrees in 1978 and 1980 respectively. She was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in Michaelmas 1982. Since qualifying as a solicitor she worked for a number of firms including Emerson & Conway, Galway; Sheridan & Co, Letterkenny and P.O'Connor & Son, Swinford. Mary joined Outsource in July 2011 as an auditor/risk management consultant and has continued in this role with the Institute of Legal Research & Standards since its inception.
Sinead O'Sullivan obtained Bachelor of Commerce and LL.B honours degrees from NUI Galway in 1995 and 1998 respectively. Sinead trained with Howley Carter & Co., Solicitors, Sligo and was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 2003. Post qualification she worked for two years with O'Callaghan Cowhey,Solicitors, Dublin practising in the areas of residential conveyancing and probate thereafter she worked with Peter Martin Solicitors, Sligo from 2005 to 2010 practising primarily in residential and commercial conveyancing but gaining extensive experience in all areas of general practise. From 2010 until joining the Institute of Legal Research & Standards in 2012 she was working as a locum Solicitor. She completed the Certificate in Conveyancing and Property Law with the Law Society in 2014.
Kate Ashmore graduated from the University of Limerick with a BA in Law and European Studies in 1998. She was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 2002 following an apprenticeship with John Glynn & Co., Solicitors in Dublin. Kate holds a diploma in Commercial Conveyancing from the Law Society and has worked in a number of firms in the Leinster area including Dermot Fullam Solicitors and William Fleming & Partners in Carlow. Kate joined the Institute in 2012 and has been a member of the panel of auditors since then.
